Local Area
Nestling under Ben Nevis, UK's highest mountain, is the busy town
of Fort William. It is the gateway not only to the Lochaber area,
but also to Skye and the Western Isles. The main highway runs through
it, virtually South to North, following the Great Glen geological
fault from Oban to Inverness.
The Presbytery of Lochaber covers the whole District of Lochaber from
Fort William in the East to Mallaig and the Small Isles to the West,
Ardnamurchan Peninsula, as far North as Fort Augustus, and as far
South as Duror. It includes two of the largest parishes in the UK,
Kilmonivaig and Glengarry. |
